Old city center
The holy trinity church
Has been built between 1717 - 1720 is a baroc style building, having 2 identical towers with the roof in a bulb shape;
curently is used as a praying outpost for romano-catholic christians. This church has mural paintings, strained glass
and sculptures, also massive wood furniture.
The wooden church
Maramures building, monument of local folk art built in Chechis village in 1630; in 1939 this monument has been brought to
Baia Mare, transformed in a museum object, contemplating with other traditional buildings the etnographic museum.
The Iancu of Hunedoara house
This edifice represents a part of the ex medieval castle built at the orders of Iancu de Hunedoara for his wife, Elisabeta; The building was finished by Matei Corvin in the year 1468. This building is representing the old city center of Baia Mare. In the generous space inside the building are oftenly hosted exhibits (curently under the administration of county's
local museum).
Stefan's tower
Is the monument of medieval architecture that is most representative in Baia mare; also built at the orders of Iancu de
Hunedoara, it's a gothic building and raises at over 40 meters. The tower was used for the strategical surveilance of the
city and also as a fireman's tower.
The monetary
Was built between 1734 - 1737, this building is also a important place in the city; curently is the headquarters of the
Maramures county museum.
Butcher's tower
Has been raised in the XV centure; the legend sais that from this tower was fired the bullet that shot Pintea the brave.
The city's old lodge
This was the place of Baia mare's major gatherings. From 1870 this building was the headquarters of the city hall, currently beying used as Court, notary office and Lawyer's college.
